I love discovering new places to enjoy tea and cake in Gran Canaria, so I was very happy to find The Lighthouse Cafe on one of my strolls in fishing village Arguineguin.
The Lighthouse opened in Autumn 2014 and is just up the stairs from Correos (post office) and looks out onto the boat yard, harbour and beach.
If you sit outside on a clear day, you can enjoy a spectacular view of Tenerife’s Mt.Teide! There are even binoculars and cozy fleece blankets available for those cooler evenings.
The indoor seating and the decor has that beach house vibe and you can see a lot of work has gone into the design of the place. There is even a little playhouse area for children to enjoy.
So enough about the fab decor and views, let’s get onto the menu. Now I’m so into tea and cake, that I haven’t really tried anything else off the menu, but it does look delicious. I think I would like to try the chicken and pesto salad or their famous burgers next time.
I personally love the green tea with gunpowder which is served in a tea press, complimented with a chunky slab of carrot cake. We also ordered apple crumble and they have just introduced waffles onto the menu which taste great with a hot chocolate. If you are a bit of a chocoholic, there is a whole menu just for hot chocolate!
The owners are such lovely people and there’s a pleasant atmosphere. I recommend that you visit The Lighthouse Coffee and Bread if you find yourself in Arguineguin.
