Did you know you can take Zumba classes in Gran Canaria?
You maybe on holiday and missing out on your classes, or you may live on the island and fancy getting out, making friends and having a really fun exercise class, so it’s good to know there are Zumba classes with certified instructors here in Gran Canaria.

What is Zumba?
Never heard of Zumba before? Zumba is usually a 1 hour class, where you follow the instructor in a series of Latino style dance moves, specially adapted for aerobics. It’s possible to burn 1,000 calories in a 1 hour class!

Don’t worry if you have trouble picking up the steps, it’s all about having fun and moving. The music is usually Spanish, with styles like Flamenco, Tango, Reggaeton, Salsa, Cumbia, Bollywood (to name a few) all fused together into fun dance moves.

In the 90’s an aerobics instructor called Beto Perez invented Zumba one day, when he forgot his usual music for his class. Instead he used CD’s that he listened to in the car, which were Latino tracks and so he used those in his aerobics class. It proved a hit and Zumba was born!
